Gold Hill Sauvignon Blanc, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Racy, purity, concentration.
Gold Hill proprietors, the Gill family, have been growing grapes on the slopes of the Golden Mile Bench for 30 years, they made their won wine first in 2009. Today they farm more than 26 hectares around the Okanagan Valley and the wines are made by Val Tait.
The warm site produces ripe wines with generally higher alcohol but this singular Savvy doesn't lack freshness.
Sweet peaches and lime zest, grass clippings, honey lemon verbena and starfruit aromas lead to a racy palate. Slick and mouthwatering it has good concentration and notable fruit purity. Flavours of gooseberry, snap peas and citrus linger.
Pairing: think grilled fish, oysters, asparagus, and warm chevre salads.
